Behind Our Mission: Making Chemistry Transparent, Sustainable, and Safe in Indiana

Knowledge is Power

At The Clean Chemist, we believe knowledge is power—especially when it comes to your health. As a chemist and chemistry teacher, I’m passionate about making the science of skin care simple, easy to understand, and accessible to everyone.

Why Chemistry Matters in Skin Care

Chemistry forms the foundation of everything we do at The Clean Chemist. From choosing ingredients to formulating a bath bomb, we apply scientific principles to keep your skin healthy, safe, and beautiful. It’s not a matter of choosing “natural” over “synthetic.” Instead, it is important to choose ingredients that are effective, gentle, and backed by science.

Our Commitment to Transparency

We are proud to be completely transparent with our ingredients. Every product we makes includes a clear label with a full list of ingredients. We also keep detailed documentation about what allergens are present in each product. We are always happy to discuss the fragrances, oils, butters, and other ingredients in our products. So if you have sensitive skin or allergies, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of our mission at The Clean Chemist in Avon, Indiana. We are both about your health and the health of the planet.

Here’s how we do our part:

  • Environmentally Conscious Packaging: all of our soaps are packaged in materials that are home compostable and our other products are packaged in recyclable materials.

  • Conflict Free Sourcing: we choose ingredients from suppliers that follow sustainable practices and pay a fair wage.

  • Small Batch Production: we make our products in small batches to avoid waste and to ensure maximum freshness.

  • Reducing Waste and Conserving Resources: we minimize the amount of wasted products and resources (like water).

Why This Matters

As the owner of The Clean Chemist, I want you to feel confident, empowered, and well-informed when choosing what’s best for your skin. I don’t follow trends. Instead, I do my best to honor the intersection of science, education, and sustainability in everything we do.
