Hi, I’m Sondra, a chemist, chemistry teacher, skincare nerd, and the founder of The Clean Chemist in Avon, Indiana.

I started this brand in early 2025 after spending years searching for products that wouldn’t irritate my sensitive, allergy-prone, eczema-prone skin.

With both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry, I understood the science behind the ingredients, but I still struggled to find products that worked well for my skin and aligned with what I wanted to use.

So I started making my own.

What began as a personal project quickly turned into something much bigger. I realized there were so many people looking for the same thing I was: gentle, fun, and thoughtfully made skincare they could feel good about using.

Today, The Clean Chemist creates cold process soaps, fun bath products, and skincare made in small batches right here in Indiana. Every product is handcrafted with carefully selected ingredients, conflict-free oils, sustainable packaging, and a little bit of nerdy joy.

As a brand, we also embrace being nerdy and neurodivergent-friendly. Our products are designed with sensory comfort in mind, from gentle scents to simple ingredient lists, because skincare should feel good in every way.

My goal is simple: create products that are kind to sensitive skin while still being fun to use.
